In my previous role at IDRC and now at the Shuttleworth Foundation I have been interested in promoting the use of low-cost, commodity technologies as telecommunications infrastructure. Supporting Dabba and the Village Telco concept is a logical extension of that work over the last 3-4 years.
In terms of what I bring to the workshop, aside from some financial resources from the Foundation, I am a pretty comfortable at linux administration and at hacking other people's code. I expect my role at the workshop to be part facilitator and part participant.
